INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - For third-grader Karson Stoeckel, winning a national championship was the next logical step. And it came down to a match against a friend and teammate. Stoeckel took that step at the 2023 Adidas Wrestling Nationals April 3-6 when he won the national championship in the third-grade division. He won an Illinois state title a year ago as a second-grader. Karson, from South Roxana, is a student at Central Intermediate School in Roxana. He is coached by Ryan King of the King Select Wrestling Academy in Granite City.
